princessbilbo 's review for:
Damsel
by Elana K. Arnold
I read a lot of the bad reviews for this book before reading it, but I still decided to give it a chance anyway. After finishing the book, I found myself disagreeing with the reviews. While this story dealt with a lot of cliches, I felt like this was a very empowering book. This book took what many girls have to deal with and found a way to empower them. I took this as a survivor story, and I think it was very well written. It took a very difficult subject, rape and domestic abuse, and showed how a woman pushed through. The mix of fantasy made a very difficult subject much easier to digest.
Yes, it was cliche, but I still enjoyed this story and would totally recommend it to others.
