Dear Librarian
by Lydia M. Sigwarth
This book is so sweet and beautifully illustrated. It tells the important story of a child experiencing homelessness being welcome and finding comfort at the library, as was experienced by the author when she was a child. From what I've learned from conferences and speakers and people with lived or living experiences of homelessness, I think this book does a great job spreading awareness about children experiencing homelessness, especially a version of homelessness you may not even recognize as such (like this family, staying with friends and family for short stints but not really fitting and having no actual home of their own for a while). That said, again don't take my opinion as the standard since I haven't had those experiences myself. What I can say, as a Librarian, is that I love hearing stories about our work being meaningful and inspiring others!
