booking_along 's review for:

The Woman in Me by Britney Spears
dark informative sad tense medium-paced

no rating - she shares her view point and story and since i neither lived nor experienced it with her i wont be putting a rating on her and her story and how she experienced her life.
i dislike rating autobiographies because it’s what’s important for that person - and who am i as an outsider to tell anyone about their live what they should and shouldn’t have focused on?

it’s horrific to read just what can go on in a life that seems to be in permanent spotlight and at the same time not knowing what is actually going on being in the shadows.

Britney certainly survived through hardships and let’s all just hope she gets help she needs -as we all should if we need it!- and finally finds actual friends and people that can surround her and be there for her as she deserves.

that all being said and while i understand her need to put her story out there and tell her point of view… this book felt too rushed and as if somebody wanted to very clearly show a specific perspective and doesn’t have the actual “quality” of a biography in the sense they there is actual understanding and looking back at things in a certain way.

this felt personal and raw and i wish she would have waited a little while to share her side until she could put a little more distance between all the hardships and horrors that she had to survive through.

but as i already said- autobiographies are hard to read, to rate and to review.

so let’s say this: this was clearly necessary for the author and that’s fantastic and i hope it helped her and have her something and she gained something from this experience of witting and published her side and story and giving people the view of her story as she experienced it.

was this book a bit too rushed feeling, had a few too raw moments that could have been written better and skipped big chunks of times - yes.
could this be a better book if it would have been done years from now with a bit of distance - absolutely.

is it still worth a read and great that Britney did this? yes absolutely!
