Ugh, this is my re read since 2022 and I can say with confidence that Ana knows what she’s doing. I’m re reading bc of king of envy I couldn’t remember what was shooing with the king of sibs series - but Dante and Vivian did not disappoint.
I think she does a good job of blending the real and lived aspect of being wealthy Asian American family, and the complexities of existing in a world built for whiteness and exploring the stress and strain it places on families that have and hold honor and loyalty at the forefront as a culture narrative. I think that’s a neat placement considering her audience. While it’s not in your face as some books build it into the plot, it’s still present. I hope to see more of that subtly, if not blatant nod toward that tension as she write more wealthy characters of color !
