many parts of this series have been punishing. they have dragged on through aggravating hours of rage and disgust at the politics of dragon-kind and the sheer brutality that they afforded to their mates. and were that not enough, three of the previous novels have been stories tied so thoroughly into an experiment where there was no consent to be given, that everything in them cannot be looked at without that as a frame of reference. with that being said–

nothing feels quite as comfortable nor does it soothe the soul the way sebastian's unwavering love and loyalty to perry does. especially in a time when no one else treated people like perry with even a ounce of respect. it truly was the best way for me to say goodbye to the series. thank you piper scott and virginia kelly for creating perry so i can carry a little piece of him with me for the rest of my life.
