Okay so while I think the quality of this book is a 5 star, my personal rating would probably be like a 3.5 stars so I just went with 4 stars!

To start, I loved how well Jessie’s autism was handled in this story! I think there’s so much stigma surrounding autism and people don’t really understand that it’s a spectrum and can look different in everyone. I loved getting to see her journey from being diagnosed to finally accepting and embracing her diagnosis. I also loved how important Jessie being Palestinian was to the story and I loved the little glimpses of the history of Palestine throughout the story! I also think this was such an accurate portrayal of all of the complicated feelings you have as a teenager and how messy and complicated everything is!

On the other hand, I spent almost this entire book so annoyed with all of the characters that I was getting annoyed with everything in real life 🙄 For one, Levi was the actual worst and Jessie being so hung up on him was so so frustrating. I honestly think the only person I wasn’t annoyed by was Griffin lol I think my main issue was that this book was just too young for me. Like I’ve never really understood when people said that because I love YA books so much but this one finally made me understand. Which is a me problem and not this books problem so with all that being said, I do recommend this book, especially to teenagers! I think it has great representation and is a very important read! But if you’re an adult like me, just go into it knowing that this book was not written for you!
