Unlocked: An Oral History of Haden's Syndrome
by John Scalzi
An interesting companion to Lock In, Unlocked traces the outbreak of Haden's Syndrome, the response from government, the development of Haden technologies, and the beginning of the end of the government sponsored initiatives. It builds the world that becomes the setting of Lock In and gives a lot of detail that is necessarily glossed over in the novel. Reading this novella makes me wish that there were many more novels written in this fascinating setting.
