Hauntin' After Midnight
by Rose Pressey Betancourt
hmm. I wanted to like this book, but it's just so difficult! First off, how big is this town that she lives in? If it's small enough she doesn't need a car to get around for things like work, grocery shopping and other things, how can she have this ghost walk tour EVERY NIGHT, and still have people attending? This sounds like a once a week event, at best. Then, if she needs this tour to pay her bills, even with a loan, how did she afford to buy a big, beautiful Victorian house? And then, there's the plot. Okay, I get the reasoning behind the villains motives, but it is just tacked on at the end with very little explanation. Do the police not do background checks on their officers? HOW did no one know what was going on before the very end? Also what was this nonsense about an "evil spirit." Where did that come from? Was it just because they needed a reason for a ghost pushing her down the stairs? As I said, I wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't get behind the faulty plot and lack of logic to the characters.
