This book reads like a horror movie, which I found highly entertaining.
I binged through the first half, gleefully expecting everyone to be eaten by the killer mermaids. When the killer mermaids showed up, I knew the characters and began fretting about my favourites survival. (Examples of the diverse “cast”: f/f love story as side storyline, deaf characters, someone bodily disabled)
In the middle, the plot slowed a bit for me. Hollywood “trained” as I am, I expected an action-filled blood bath, which I kind of got, but there was also lots of science-ing.
Overall, I really liked reading this book and will recommend it to friends with wide eyes while exclaiming: Killer mermaids!
