Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

This book was amazing. I really loved how gender stereotypes were smashed and instead of it being an insecure dependent girl and a strong protective guy it was just two people in love. The end of the book tears your heart and half and then shreds it and then eats it and then chucks the remains out a window. And then the very last page is the very best part of the entire book.
This is the first werewolf story I have read since the dark days of Twilight (we do not speak of it) and I really loved it. I loved the "rules" of the nature of werewolfs in this story and how temperature is a huge part of it. I really liked how there was a temperature under the title of each chapter I thought that really added to the story.
Can we talk about the cover because I am in LOVE with the cover! My inner art geek is coming out when I say I love the simplicity of it and it's sorta iconic. I remember seeing this cover when it first came out and everyone was raving about it and I kept thinking 'if i judged a book by it's cover i would definitely choose that book'. I love how the pattern and repetitive and reflectiveness of the trees/roots and how the wolf is hidden in it. I also like how the leaves are shaped like hearts and how there is depth in it even though it's a pretty flat design. I really really like the little dot of blood as the eye because it adds that ominous feel to the book and i just asghagjdhsagfkjgahjfgks i just love the cover okay? okay.
go read this book because it's hella fabulous.
