Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson
4.0

Meet Me in the Margins was surprising. At first, I didn't even think I would finish it.

The first chapter was rough. I had to pause the audiobook and left it paused for two weeks. Another big "cringe" moment was when they mentioned that "she should write a book called meet me in the margins." Usually, I love it when the name gets dropped in the story (for example, It Ends with Us did this exceptionally well!), but this was just eh.

That is really all the bad things I have to say about the story. Now onto the good things that I especially loved!
It is warm and witty, and Will holds a special place in my heart, for the time being, at least. The characters are well written and truly fleshed out. They don't make decisions or act on something out of the blue, which I like.
If I had to point something out, it would be the sisterly relationship that focuses almost primarily on the fact that Savannah is not as perfect as her younger sister. She knows it and almost pushes it into her face daily, although she sort of stole Savannah's boyfriend of 8 years. It didn't bother me, especially after their relationship changed and she saw her faults.

The reveal of the mystery man was obvious and predictable, but with this being a romance novel, it is the only thing that makes sense that they end up together. Duh. I liked their friendship throughout the story and was incredibly thankful that they weren't made enemies or somehow played a relationship in there (for example, fwb, few dates, or so on). However, I was disappointed that it took them so incredibly long to get together, as I literally had 6 minutes (on 2x speed) left of the book when they realized each other.
