annarella 's review for:
The American Agent
by Jacqueline Winspear
It was the first book I read in this series even if I head a lot about the writer and the Maisie Dobbs. I didn't know what to expect but was I can surely say it exceeded any possible expectations.
I read this book as fast as could and I was totally enthralled by the characters, Maisie above all, the plot and historical background.
Everything was perfect, exciting and entertaining.
The characters are well written, fleshed out and you cannot help rooting for Maisie, a strong and lovely woman.
The mystery was solid, full of possible culprits, and it kept me guessing till the end.
I loved the detailed historical background, well researched and detailed, and how it mixes with the fictional part. I was a great reading experience and I look forward to reading other books in this series.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to HarperCollins and Edelweiss for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
