Every year, all of the sixteen-year-old girls in Garner County are sent off to undergo their Grace Year. Alone in the forest they have one year to release their magic before they’ll return, no longer able to tempt and lure and manipulate with their powers. 

Her older sisters, her mother, they’ve all gone through their Grace Years and, as is customary, say not a word about their time away. So, with Tierney’s Grace Year finally here, she can do little more than hope that she’s prepared enough to survive what’s to come.
