Summer's Snow
by Carly H. Mannon
First a HUGE thank you to the author for an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
The overarching theme I picked up was a story based on familial ties and the things we do for those we love. Whether it's the family we're born with or the family we make along the way. Loved our little start with the twin's mother and the backstory and emotion it evokes for characters we haven't even met yet.
I think the first few chapters were a little slow so once you hit the climax of the plot it started to feel a lot more interesting. It gave you the relief of knowing you stayed for something really enjoyable. Our author's world-building was fantastic, especially for her debut novel. The detail she managed to add really gives you insight into what she plans for the future and how our main characters will react and be treated.
And I love writing that can make you absolutely love side characters and hope for their return in the next book. It's an emotion-driven swirl of betrayal, fae politics, and love. Not to mention the subtle re-telling of Snow White and Sleeping Beauty was so charming to see and very original compared to others.
We have slow-burn, one-bed trope, who did this to you, and a few others. So if that's your vibe you should definitely pick this up! It's full of adventure and shenanigans that want you to come back for more.
