Daisy Jones & The Six
by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I had big expectations for this one, going off the hype on Instagram over the past 12 months. TJR has such a great rep for writing great stories, so I was excited to get into it finally.
It had a really interesting writing format, written like an interview but in a way you could clearly imagine the band documentary, playing before you on the TV. Footage of each of the band members speaking to the camera, highlights of the performances, black & white images & glimpses of the creative sessions. I really liked that. It was a unique way to read a story.
While it didn’t quite reach that fever pitch for me, it wasn’t a bad book. I didn’t love the characters (except for Camilla, she had more fire than all these rockstars combined), but I did enjoy the way it was written, almost like it was the absolute truth.
I’m definitely looking forward to the movie!
