Song of Phoenix and Ink by Margherita Scialla
5.0

*I received a copy from Booksirens via the author to read & review*

I’ve been Tiktok and Instagram mutuals with Margherita for a while now, and knew she was coming out with a New Adult LGBTQ Fantasy book. I had received an arc from them, but wasn’t able to read it in time, and was glad to see it was on Booksirens!

I went in expecting a diverse fantasy world, and that’s exactly what I got. There’s a polyamorous relationship (FMM, with the female MC), an f/f side relationship, a demisexual character, and so much more. If I tried listing them all, I’d miss a few for sure. Margherita has talked about the representation they put into their book, and it’s 100% true.

In Song of Phoenix and Ink, we follow Nadzia who accidentally gets transported into her fantasy novel. From there, she learns that she arrived there months before the war she wrote about. However, the novel is different now that she is inside it. The story doesn’t follow the same story she wrote. Now, she has to figure out how to help her characters that she has come to see as friends.

There is extra content at the end that show some scenes in different POVs than Nadzia’s. And I loved it. It’s not often you get to see scenes from other characters POVs.

Im so excited for book 2.
