When Copper Suns Fall
by KaSonndra Leigh
Wow! This was such a great book! It took me a while to figure out what was going on in this world because everything was so different, but once I got my bearings, I loved it so much! KaSonndra Leigh really creates such a rich, and detailed world that it is insane to think that it used to be the United States. It's so different. I especially loved how everything was there for a reason, every person, every place, and every item came into play later on in the book. And not always in the ways that I had imagined. That is great story telling.(it is more like great world building)
Chela is so kick butt and awesome. I admired her so much! She will stop at nothing to find out what happened to her brother. I love that she questions everything. She will do whatever it takes, no matter what stands in her way. And boy oh boy did she have a lot of obstacles in her path. But she never even faltered- she just keep plowing right through everything. And she even attracted the attention of multiple guys. The guy factor was a problem for me. She has this nice, sweet, loyal best friend who clearly cares about her a lot. Those are all the things that I love in male characters, so it was really hard for me to see him competing with Faris. I have such a soft spot for Jalen. He is so awesome.
Faris is pretty great too, but I kind of wanted it to be Jalen right from the start. Faris is a good guy too, so he did have that going for him. I really grew to like him and I ended up wanting Chela and Faris to get together but I still felt a little conflicted with good ole Jalen. I guess we will see what happens in book 2. But I do have one complaint about Faris. What is it with all the guys in books lately being described as "hot with long hair"? Sorry, but long hair on a guy just does not do it for me. So whenever they would describe Faris' ponytail, I would conveniently not picture him that way.
When Copper Suns Fall is such an excellent book! I went into the book expecting to enjoy it and I came out of it wanting to read it all over again. I loved it so much more than I thought I would!! It exceeded all of my expectations. The world just sucks you right in and the characters really come to life. Great book, and I cannot wait to read the next one!
