I Like You Like That by Kayla Grosse
4.0

At first, I wasn't sure if I was going to like this. About forty pages in and I was like, this is kind of meh and I'm not sure I'm a fan. Maybe eveen until one hundred pages in... but then, about halfway through? It was great from that point on. This is a childhood friends to lovers book, while also featuring the bodyguard trope. I was skeptical, because childhood friends to lovers isn't my favorite, but this was done pretty well. Birdie and Liam were besties growing up, then had a falling out and din't talk to each other for years, only hearing about each other through their two mutual friends, Wren and Ben. Birdie is now famous rockstar, and Liam is a retired police officer. Birdie needs protection due to a stalker and some threatening messages and terrifying situations, and Liam becomes her bodyguard. When Birdie and Liam met again after all those years and their falling out, I was giddy. I was READY for these two to hash out their issues and go from childhood friends to enemies to lovers. This did not disappoint! The tension and the emotions and the pining and longing was worth the payoff we get. Not only do we have the romance aspect of the book, but we also have suspenseful plout and mystery and a crazy twist. Overall, this book was pretty good and worth a read.
