let’s start with what i didn’t love since that’s easier:
-i really liked that the first book didn’t focus on sexualizing situations overly much and that there was actually not sex in it. it was nice to have that in a series like this since recently that’s very rare to find. so i am disappointed that this book is very much build on sex.
and with the plot and the developments, characters and just overall happenings of this book i am a bit unsure of why exactly sex was chooses to be basically the main focus of this entire book?
- i found some of emilia’s behavior a bit over the top and very eradicated in ways there were a bit too extreme.
she kept making choices of not at least listening to clearly helpful advise, not thinking logically through her choices before making her decisions -or in other words she kept making rash decisions that felt too extreme to me.
now that could be the combination of most of this book focusing on sex instead of explaining how and why emilia decided to do and why she decided to do it as she did it.
i just didn’t really understand why she kept doing basically everything she could to betray wrath since he made it pretty clear that he at least would to his best to help her not get hurt. so why not at least try working with him on some things especially for the last fourth of the book?
-this book feels very much like a middle book to me .
a lot of page fillers and important things only sprinkled in so that there will be enough story left for a third book (that’s at least how i always feel with middle book syndrom which this book does have for me)
so that being said: i had some issues with this book mostly that i thought at least half the sex scenes could/should have been plot development instead of focusing on how utterly hot emilia and wrath find each other’s bodies.
but i still loved the overall plot of the brothers and how emilia fits into that story.
i loved the snark! i really enjoyed the sarcasm and the stubbornness.
and what development happened i did enjoy. sometimes it felt a bit too rushed but overall it was good and a great build up for book three.
could this story been wrapped up in this book if some sex scenes would have been skipped?
i think so?
but i am also excited to see the action and adventures that i hope will happen -and kind of have to happen?- in book three to really wrap it all up.
i think this book was good.
but for me it’s defiantly a middle book and i think it will depend a bit on how the third book will go in how the overall rating and the rating of this book will be for me.
the third book could show that everything that happened on this book and how it happened was necessary for how book three ends the story. if that’s the case? this book will be revisited by me.
if not? this book will get downgraded by me.
all in all?
it’s very much a romance sprinkled with fantastical elements and setting. so one could say compared to book one the focus has shifted quite drastically.
but if you enjoy sexy times?
if you want some action in between and some snarky comments on top of that ?
go on, read this one!
if you want a very similar tone and feel to the first book?
this one might be not as great for you.
