Stellar, emotional writing style. Adebayo has a way of painting emotions into a brutal presentation. I'm disappointed I got this book from the library and will be buying my own copy because I anticipate wanting to reread this in the future.

Usually in this type of family drama I'm annoyed by the characters at some point but the secrets and intricacies of both Yejide and Akin come out slow and steady as the POVs flip flop between them. I was utterly enthralled with the language and their relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed delving into a different culture, different and yet so accessible.

I was shocked with the entirety, cried throughout and was sad to get to the end.
10/10 would recommend.
