I still don't know who some of those characters were. This is a decent Regency-era mystery with a satisfying smash-the-patriarchy simmer but the mystery was fairly predictable for me (and went into slightly more disturbing detail than I wanted), the main character wasn't quite to my tastes, and the writing could've used another round of rewrites to integrate some of the front-loaded stage dressing.
The audiobook narration was excellent, however, and helped sustain me through the first several chapters.
