A very engaging novel. The world came alive for me - the townsfolk and their attitudes toward magic really worked for me. I really enjoyed how the relationships between Kate and the other people in the book felt and how there were consequences to people's actions. A slightly darker book than some, but a very enjoyable one.
Oh, and Taggle is a delight.
