A False Report: A True Story of Rape in America
by Ken Armstrong, T. Christian Miller
If you are looking for a breakdown and study of how rape is reported, investigated, and prosecuted, this might NOT be the book for you. That information is here, but it is in support of the true crime story.
I wasn't expecting that. This book is intense. I finished it in three days because I didn’t want to it to last long. I wanted it to be over. This is a thorough look at two rape investigations in two states that end up being connected. One where a woman recanted and one where there is a serial rapist.
The book is structured to give the most emotional impact as possible and it succeeds. Your heart breaks, your skin crawls, you want to read faster to get through it.
There is a lot of good information here. You get the feeling that we will never fully trust rape victims as our history shows we have never really trusted them.
This is a hard read, but an important one. I want everyone to read this.
