Wrath of the Triple Goddess by Rick Riordan
4.75

Of the two books released so far in this trilogy, Wrath of the Triple Goddess is easily my favourite. The relationships between Annabeth, Grover and Percy are centre stage and a joy to read; the secondary characters are all interesting; the various events within the quest are entertaining; and Nope is utterly adorable.

This is definitely a low stakes story, perhaps even more so than Chalice of the Gods; but even though my favourite Riordan books tend to be his high stakes, action packed finales, I never found this 'smaller' story boring. There are also moments of genuine emotion which make it rise above simply being a fun read. I've seen criticism that Chalice and Wrath don't really explore the impact of the trauma Percy and Annabeth went through in the Heroes of Olympus series, and I think that's valid, but it doesn't detract from my enjoyment.

I had a great time reading this and I am already looking forward to the third book.
