Restore Me
by Tahereh Mafi
Uhhh...this one wasn't a smash hit for me.
But! It was a good(ish) set up for the rest of the series. Since I'm so late to this series I did some research and found out the first three books were initially supposed to encompass the entire series, so it did feel like the author was maybe a little out of groove with the characters and the story after being away from it for so long (but who knows, maybe she wrote this book right after the other one and I'm just projecting onto it. I'm open to all possibilities).
I still really enjoyed the story and the characters, but didn't love watching our MC devolve a little. Who can blame her, with all the new responsibilities and her age and life experiences, but as an adult reading it everything felt really dramatic? And like nothing truly happened? Until one page at the end, and everything happened within two sentences.
Sigh. It just felt much different than the first three books, but I'm SO STOKED for Defy Me (the cover dropped today and BOIIIIIIIIIII she's beautifiss...looking like a lego *rip vine*).
This review is all over the place. bye.
