My Favorite Thing Is Monsters, Vol. 1
by Emil Ferris
This is not at all what I was expecting. From the cover I was expecting an ode to movie monsters of the past. Maybe a reinterpretation. Something like Monster Squad. I did get all of that in a much different way. Our main character is a monster. She loves monsters and desires to be one. This is a story of her family, and the dead neighbor. What the dead neighbor sucide or was it murder. And what exactly is the neighbors story. It’s a story of survival. All in all I liked this book, but I didn’t love it. It doesn’t end. It is left with a few different very big cliffhangers. That doesn’t normally bother me, but this is a 400+ page graphic novel. Plenty of time to wrap thighs up, and they didn't. The artwork was amazing. I love how the entire thing looked like a girl doodling in a diary. That format really works. The story works. I just don’t care if i read book 2 or not.
