Nimona
by ND Stevenson
I've never read a comic/graphic novel before, so this was a new experience for me.
I've felt the urge to read something like this, but the Dutch published BlossomBooks has published the Dutch edition of this book so that made me curious. not just because I'm an ambassador of this publisher, although that did play a part in it. Usually, BlossomBooks publishes Young Adult books, and usually I love them, so that made me curious to this.
Then, I went to their website and read an preview, the first few chapters. They have this of all their books, which is a perfect way to find out if a books speaks to you or not. After the first few pages of Nimona, I wanted to read more, so I was really happy when I could borrow this book from a friend! (I've already bought to many books recently, bookban over here..)
Let's go review this book
I really liked the graphic novel part of this story. it is something different, and it fits the story very well. However, I am more of a regular book kind of person I noticed. Yes, I have a lot of Donald Ducks and I love them, but tha is a different genre in my opinion. In other words: I would have liked the story of Nimona as a regular novel as well, but I liked that it was graphic. But it doesn;t has my preference in the furture over a regular novel.
I also liked the story. The plot does not feel very special, and it does feel really really fast, but I think that is because you read a comic so fast.
I liked Nimona a lot, and also the other characters in the story. There is a lot of character development of almost everybody, and I always like that a lot in books.
I also liked the feel and the appearance of this book. it is really comfy to hold in your hands, the flexi cover fits the book really well and the quality of the paper is really nice. If you like the idea of the book and you are in doubt because of the price, don't be. it is really worth your money.
Overall, I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good story with a lot of suspence and developments of all kinds, and who wants to try something new!
