This was okay.  A lot of people compare it to Avatar and you can see that dynamic among the characters but that wouldn't be the first thing that I think of while reading this.

I feel kind of indifferent towards Zelie.
I appreciate that she's fierce and a fighter but she also needs to know when to shut up.
Tzain pissed me off when he called Zelie a whore and tried to storm off and was going to just leave her behind because how the fuck does that help anything? What do you gain from this?
Amari honestly felt useless until the end. I get that she was afraid but she's also a badass warrior and only embraces that when she thinks she going to die. She's the one who started all of this so it was annoying to be in her head in the middle of something and she's just not doing anything.
Inan...idk how I feel about him. I feel for him because the people closest too him are turning on him but I also didn't like the way he constantly flopped back and forth about what he wanted and was constantly betraying people.

As per usual I did not enjoy either romance.
It just feels so insignificant to everything happening. Like you're literally trying to save the world and here y'all are making heart eyes at each other.  And then why would y'all decide to have a party knowing you're on a time crunch? How could that possibly have been a good idea?

At this point, the only reason that I'm considering reading the second one is curiosity and because I already bought it a few years ago
