Actual rating: 3.4 stars. Loved the characters and the premise. I wanted more scenes with one of the side characters though. The constant changing of the POV's detracted from my enjoyment. In addition the science-y parts were hard to understand and some scenes I had no clue what was going on until after Watney blatently stated in his journals or the NASA or JPL(?) stated it to public and dumbed it down. When the hab blew up I didn't know until much later. The terminology was just a little too much. I did still enjoy this. The character was sassy, sarcastic, and hilarious. The interactions (when they finally made contact) were awesome.
