The Good Neighbor
by A.J. Banner
(Received from Amazon's Kindle First program.)
The Good Neighbor is an easy read, one that moves at a fast clip and makes for a good way to lose a couple of hours. However, it simply doesn't deliver on the blurb's promise. There was little tension, and I didn't find the big reveal to be a stunning revelation. My interest lay more in Sarah's struggle to deal with how her life was changing, not in whatever secret she was eventually going to unearth. Unfortunately I didn't get a good feel for her as a character, and the supporting characters felt paper thin.
As a novel about the way one moment of tragedy can change your life and how you view others, The Good Neighbor is pretty decent.
As a novel of "suspense fiction" it falls short.
