I have to say, this was quite the disappointment. I was very excited for this, suddenly saw it everwhere and had high expectations. Sadly, I did not enjoy this.
This book was supposed to help my slump but I think it might have worsened it.
I really thought I'd love it. Queer graphic novels are starting to be my favorite books to read. I guess this is an exception.
It already started a bit meh. Since I bought this online, I couldn't look at the art inside. I thought only the cover was going to be blue. But the whole book is blue and white, which gets really painful to the eye. At least, my eyes. I admit, I have sensitive eyes, but still. It wasn't pleasant to read for me.
While the art is definitely good, the artist is really talented, the story itself was... boring. There were time skips that made me feel like I missed a couple of pages, and I couldn't get invested in the characters or the ship. I already really didn't like Ari.
I don't like DNFing, especially not right after I bought a book. So I kept on going. Even though I really didn't feel like it. I needed a break after every few pages.
Normally I'm a quick reader when it comes ro graphic novels, this took me longer than usual.
Also, if Hector is Ari's replacement, why are they working together? The bakery is tight with money, so that means they have to pay more, right? Either double salaries, or if Ari worked for free, a new salary.
I guess it got a bit better on the end, but still wasn't a fan. I doubt I'll pick up te second volume when it's released. I kind of want to get rid of this book to make space on my shelves for something I might love.
