Too Bright to See
by Kyle Lukoff
An important and lovely book about Bug, whose beloved uncle has died. Bug lives in a haunted house in Vermont with mom, and Bug's friend Mo is talking about boys and makeup and shopping and ... Bug is not. There's a new ghost in the house and this time, it's Bug's uncle, who has an urgent message, which Bug finally understands. For Bug, his transgender announcement is made in a safe and welcoming environment.
Note: Second book about ghosts I've read recently -- the first was Linda Urban's Almost There and Almost Not. Lukoff's ghosts are scarier... but I preferred the way Urban handled the supernatural.
