My Cone and Only
by Susannah Nix
So, I’d given this author a try with an audiobook back in 2019 through the Audible Escape program, Remedial Rocket Science, but I had to quit it really quickly because of the character’s hatred of my favorite tv show, The Big Bang Theory. However when I saw the author was giving away this book, I did enter, to give her books another chance, because they always sound so good! And let me tell you how glad I am that I did, because I LOVED this one! I picked it up for my TBR challenge, because I won it from the author last year, and I’m trying to read the books I’ve got sitting on my shelves more since I have a whole bookcase full of unread books. Plus this author is going to be at a book convention this summer I’m attending.
I picked it up and couldn’t put it down! It had great characters, great world-building, can’t wait for more stories in this series, and I know there are already more out. I loved the connection between our couple. They had a great relationship and also good reasons, or sort of good reasons for not being together. But when they gave in, it was perfect. We got some steamy scenes, and also some sweet scenes. There was fun banter, a favorite part of rom-coms for me. And the last “darkest night” moment was perfect. It was done in a way that didn’t seem to be over the top drama just for drama’s sake, and that made this book a perfect 5 stars for me.
Also, I always love the punny titles that cozy mysteries have, but I don’t really read those, so the title of this was a perfect draw for me as well!
