Your Scheherazade by Michaela Tashjian
4.0

Your Scheherazade is an exquisite collection of poetry exploring youth, memory, relationships, the self, and sexism. Each poem shows the masterful command Tashjian has on this art form. From vivid imagery to the conciseness of her language, she says what she's trying to say without dumbing down her art. I particularly enjoyed Tashjian's poems "The Truth About Poets," "If You See My Lover Sleeping," "Sweat," "Story For A Boy In An Airport," "Lyric As Lace," and "Catch." If you're looking for a collection of poetry written by a poet with an obvious literary background, I suggest you check Your Scheherazade. There's a level of depth to these poems that's lost on most modern poetry. The only downside to this collection was its lack of page numbers, which made it difficult to read in multiple sittings.
