vampiresessah 's review for:
On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
by Stephen King
From start to finish this is an enjoyable, fast-paced read. There are little gems hidden throughout the book and so many sayings that I've encountered on the internet in regards to writing are taken directly from this book (I actually started to highlight them every time they popped up).
King doesn't re-invent the wheel with his advice (which he knows) but he has some interesting views on the writing process ('Write with the door closed, rewrite with the door open.') and I'll keep a few of his tips in mind in the future.
On the other hand there are a few views that I disagree with (I love and need outlining and plotting) but that's just my process and not his.
Overall I will definitely leaf through this again and again just to get motivated to write more. Because in the end this book is very encouraging and makes me want to sit down and just get to writing.
