A Little Light Mischief by Cat Sebastian
4.5

Is there anything more delightful than a Regency sapphic romance? Because A Little Light Mischief was the perfectly swoon-worthy novella to start off Pride month with. In it, we follow Alice the disgraced daughter of an abusive vicar finding herself as a pampered lady's companion. There she connects with former fence Molly trying to make ends meet for her daughter as a maid. The two fall for each other as they plot to rob the man who ruined Alice's life.

I was instantly charmed by Cat Sebastian's witty writing. Her perfect balance of wit, character introspection and steam made for an endlessly readable romance. What was most impressive about this novella was Sebastian's character work. In this slim volume, Sebastian manages to craft compelling character arcs for her two leads. We see Alice grow to accept her sexuality and find the confidence to claim what is owed to her and we see Molly opening herself to love after a life of scraping by to earn enough to support her daughter.

Overall this was the perfect novella. Equal parts sexy and sweet and filled with charming characters you can easily root for. I'm happy to say Cat Sebastian has almost instantly become a romance author to watch for because A Little Light Mischief did everything right.
