This is the only actual Christmassy book I've read so far this month and it was really good! Nick and Noel have been friends since childhood and then his family ended up fostering her during the last couple years of high school after her parents tragically died when she was 16. They both entered the military and while she left after her tour and became a nurse in their hometown, he re-enlisted multiple times. He is now home for good right before the holidays, which means she is thrust back into being part of the family--she had withdrawn a bit when he was away since her parents passed around the holidays and it makes her sad to see what she doesn't have. They both get broken up with by their partners and decide to fake date each other to prove they're okay, but then feelings and attractions start happening. The story plays out as we get closer to Christmas and they figure out if they can be together for real without ruining their friendship and despite all their baggage. Music plays a big part in this story and their chemistry was excellent. Looking forward to the second book about one of Nick's sisters, which should come out next year in time for the holidays. One thing: all the names were super Christmas related which is super cheesy but in a Hallmark movie kind of way.
