Smack Dab in the Middle of Maybe
by Jo Watson Hackl
Mental illness is something that affects so many people in our world. And yet, it's still something people feel ashamed about. This book deals with the aspects of handling the mental illness of a loved one when there isn't much you can do.
A child, no matter how resourceful, cannot manage their parent.
This was a fascinating book. I loved every bit of it, but mostly the overarching theme of mental illness. Different isn't bad, but sometimes you have to take care of yourself first. That is the lesson that seems to be most prevalent.
I'm looking forward to meeting this author (she'll be at an event for a nearby bookstore) and telling her in person how much I enjoyed this story.
