Hamlet by William Shakespeare
5.0

Honestly, the five-star rating is based on the fact that I actually watched the play, not that I read the book. As much as we study Shakespeare in our English classrooms today, we sometimes tend to forget that he wrote PLAYS, not novels. And plays are meant to be performed. It's helpful to maybe skim through the written play a little and figure out what some of the more important archaic words mean, but at the end of the day, watching the play is the best way in which to experience Hamlet because Shakespeare wrote it to be performed. The actors and their actions and their expressions are crucial and do more to tell the audience exactly what is going on that rereading the same passage over and over again in a futile effort to understand. "To be or not to be" is nowhere near as powerful on the page as it is on the stage, so I recommend watching Hamlet first, then picking it up to read if you like, in order to get the full experience exactly the way Shakespeare intended.
