Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
4.0

OKAY I JUST HAVE ONE QUESTION. HOW DO YOU END A BOOK LIKE THAT.

This was the coin-assigned first book that I tackled for the BookTube-A-Thon 2018 and let me tell you - I think it was the perfect inaugural read. Here's why (and I will try my best to be as non-spoilery as I can):

As with all Rainbow Rowell books, I went into this assuming it would be something easy to read, something very good that would tug at my heartstrings. And oh my God did this book live up to the challenge. I can't believe it took me this long to read it, and I can't believe how much I enjoyed it. I felt for Eleanor every second, and I really liked both her and Park as characters; it was just easy to fall in love with them, and their story unfolded beautifully. As expected.

Ultimately, I gave the book four stars just because it did feel a liiiittle slow in some parts, but that definitely did not take away from my overall enjoyment of it. While it can also be a little heavy to read (due to its tackling some very sensitive subjects), I loved that its message was, by and large, one of hope. In Rainbow Rowell's own words, she didn't want to give Park and Eleanor an ending, she wanted to give them a beginning, and that's exactly what we get with that last line that I'm going to be thinking about for the rest of my life oh my God you can't just DO that to me!!!

Bottom line: absolutely loved it, totally recommend it, I adore Rainbow with all my heart.
