Tell Me How You Really Feel
by Aminah Mae Safi
This is a sweet romance, although I found the exploration of the two people in the relationship more interesting than their relationship itself. It's billed as an "enemies to lovers", although to me it was more like "one-sided grudge to lovers." Rachel is tough, on herself and others, and she has strong beliefs about how the world is going to treat her and how to react. She has the chops to become a good director talent-wise, but maybe not the disposition yet. Sana has lived a life of being as perfect as she can to ease tension between her mom and grandparents, but the cracks are starting to show. She's got all the things she is supposed to want to have, but there's something different that is what she actually wants.
One thing I did like about this story is that sexuality isn't really an issue. There are a few microaggressions, but it's not a problem novel in that sense. I also love the insight into two cultures that I am not a part of, Jewish Mexican, and Persian/Indian. I did like the changes the girls brought out in each other, and the character of Diesel, but I thought the ending was a bit unrealistic.
