I wouldn't know where to begin with a review of this book. It's probably the best fantasy book I've ever read, maybe the best book in general. Some of that may be from the post-read glow, and I could feel different in a day or two.

What I can say is that Assassin's Fate is near-perfect as an ending point for the Farseer Trilogy. Plot-wise, it wraps up every loose end (that I can remember), and becomes the kind of ending that is both tragic and full of hope. Robin Hobb, known for creating human characters that feel as though they were in the same room with you, people you want to know and converse with and maybe even love, goes above and beyond with Assassin's Fate. She does what Tolkien did with The Fellowship of the Ring, crafting a cast of characters whose fates are so interlocked that to lose one is to lose a limb - one is never the same. Her character interactions have me consistently smiling and often laughing out loud, and I feel more a connection with Fitz and the Fool and Nighteyes and Kettricken than I can ever remember having with fictional characters.

Add dragons to this mix and I think you might find yourself reading the perfect fantasy novel. I can not wait to dive head first into the Liveship Traders series. I will miss Fitz for a while, but I suspect not for long.
