Wuthering Heights
by Emily Brontë
I couldn't rate this one right away. It's a classic and all, and it's supposed to be "the greatest love story of all time". So the pressure to give this at least a decent rating was high. But after thinking about how reading this made me feel - nope. This one sucked. First, it was hard to read. The dialogue was a mess. Second, I have a hard time people saying this is so great yet modem day books have such awful examples of relationships. They're all based on this book's model, in my opinion. Every single book with any kind of relationship is built on this notion of "the one that got away" and the plot to get him/her back and the revenge. It's okay for the classics but not for modern day, got it. Whether it was 100 years ago or not, it's not a great example of a romantic relationship, but it is what it is. It's a story.
I disliked it so much I felt like I had to force myself to finish it. Audiobooking this one definitely helped.
