The Crucible
by Arthur Miller
What a fabulously crafted and highly intriguing read. I don't see how any book lover, storyteller, or student of literature could possibly dislike this play. Arthur Miller had me captivated from the very first page. I found the page strangely horrific and terribly frightening - he does an excellent job of capturing the hysteria one must have felt in late 17th century Massachusetts. This play has shot to the top of the list as one of my favorites so far...I did not expect much from this play but I got so much more. There's jealousy, envy, deception, vengeance, and this constant struggle between seeing and not seeing that really make me want to reread the play to glean it for further information. I definitely recommend The Crucible.
