Beauty and the Baller
by Ilsa Madden-Mills
This was exactly what I needed to read to get me out of a reading slump: heartwarming, funny, found family, small town quirky characters - it was all there and then some!
I will admit that if you go into the book purely for some great love story, you might be disappointed. This is not to say that the romantic relationship wasn’t well done, because I personally did enjoy it. This was probably one of the only instances in which I didn’t mind the “deceased wife” trope because while she was portrayed as someone that was nice and whom he loved, we did not get much insight into her which was probably a good thing and what we were really shown and told was that his relationship with Nova was the once in a lifetime type of life instead.
Why I really loved this book though, is the combination of small town charm, the beautiful sibling relationship between the heroine and her sister, the nosy neighbors who are overbearing but mean well, the small nuggets of parental wisdom which Nova passed down to her sister and she kept passing forward, the epilogue, and so much more.
I can’t wait for the next book with Tuck’s story!
