ros_lanta 's review for:
I"ll Become A Villainess Who Goes Down in History, Vol. 1
by Akari Hoshi
I really enjoyed this. Even though I'm tired and I was struggling not to fall asleep while reading it, I forced myself to keep awake because I was having such a fun time.
Based on a webnovel/light novel, this manga adaptation of I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History has only just recently come out in English. I first discovered this story through the anime version, which is currently airing its first season, and I have been looking forward to every new episode.
I've now consumed a fair few stories with the popular "reincarnated as a villainess" Isekai trope, and this one is easily my favourite. There's a nice twist on the usual concept as Alicia actually wants to be a villianess and sets out to be the strongest one possible... albeit her idea of what wickedness is seems a bit on the skewed side since she has a pretty strong sense of ethics!
My only real criticism of this first volume is that there are already signs of setting up the love interest, despite the fact that at this point Alicia is only 10 (albeit with the memories of a past life), and the love interest is several years older. There were a couple of moments that felt a bit uncomfortable.
Generally though I had a really fun time with this and I'll be picking up volume 2 as soon as it is released.
