I can't bring myself to finish this book, and it's not because it's poorly written or not engaging. Told from the perspective of 17-year old Australian teen, Che, whose family has just moved from Thailand to NYC, this book is TOO REAL and terrifying. His younger sister Rosa is a sociopath, his parents are completely besotted by her charms, and you know that it's all going to end so, so badly. I just couldn't stop thinking about the parents of such children, how you either live in total denial that your child can not feel anything but boredom, anger, or pleasure OR you realize that your child is a danger to everyone around them. How terrifying, isolating, and hopeless.

I recommend the audio version HIGHLY. Then come back and tell me what happens because I CAN NOT finish this book emotionally unscathed.
