The Moonlight Dreamers by Siobhan Curham
3.0

this was a very cute little book!
first off, ngl i feel like the tag "LGBT+" is a little misleading - none of the main characters are queer, which is what i was looking for.
this book also kind of gave 'middle school child wanting to read a book that's edgy and above their considered maturity level' which is kinda out of my age range lmao.
i still enjoyed this book tho! sky and rose's relationship blossoming was beautiful to see, and amber coming to terms with her familial situation was also sweet to see.
honestly i didn't get much from maali - i felt like her entire plot/dream was super weak, especially sitting alongside rose's story progression. like seriously we're comparing a crush to literal child pornography? ok. sure.
and sky felt like she really didn't have a plot at all? like ok, it was to get to the poetry slam. but like what was her progression? it entirely focused on rose, and kind of threw sky's intrinsic character to the wayside.
see this sounds like i hate this book but i actually had a great time reading it! there are just some glaring issues (issues for me not as in the actual quality of the book) i cant overlook
this is one of those books im debating even keeping because idk if i'd even read this again. maybe in the distant future. never say never.
