Finished this in just a few sittings today and it’s gotta be one of the most sensationalist, condescending books I’ve ever read. The author clearly hates her characters and spends way too much time reminding you that they’re in New York City living in a rough neighborhood full of drug dealing hoodlums, people drinking malt liquor out of brown paper bags, and—gasp!—Jamaicans!! Not as gross as everyone made it out to seem but very, very laughable eroticism/graphic violence.
