The Magician's Nephew
by C.S. Lewis
Okay, The Magician's Nephew was pretty good. C.S. Lewis' narration was laugh-out-loud funny and constantly witty and charming, his worldbuilding captured delight and child-like wonder brilliantly, and his characters were compelling. Digory's journey from selfish curiosity to selflessness was well rendered and his ultimate desire to save his mother did get me in the feels. Polly was a great companion. I generally hate when girls are shafted in the "sensible" role in stories
